Audition Tips

1) Relax. No one expects you to be perfect.

2) Rehearse. If possible, read over the material you are to audition.

3) Don’t Just Read! Try to create a characterization.

4) Listen. Listen to how others read the material. Listen to the suggestions of the director and try to follow them.

5) Don’t Rush. Take your time. Avoid running sentences together.

6) Speak Up. Being heard in a theatre is very important.

Leading roles are nice, but supporting roles are just as important. Without them, there would be no show!

If you don’t get cast, it may not be because of your audition. Many times parts are cast according to body types, not just ability.
